Seija Knight is a lyric Soprano of Australian/Finnish origin. She has been living in London since 2005, having arrived from Melbourne, Australia to further her studies.

Seija has a BA/BMus (hons.) from the University of Melbourne and a Mmus Perf. (Distinction) from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. Since completing her studies she has had opportunities to perform at St Martin in Fields, Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall and The Barbican. Seija had also worked with the British Youth Opera, Opera della luna, Stanley Hall Opera, Opera Novella, ROH2 and Incognito Artists.

As a teenager Seija’s first experience of opera was on a school trip to a performance of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at the Victorian State Opera. Having experienced ‘tingles’ and been moved to tears by the drama and emotion of the production, she decided that night she wanted to pursue a career in opera… to affect people in exactly the same way.

Seija regularly performs across the UK and Europe at Private Events and Corporate Functions. Highlights of such events include a private soiree at The Ritz for Prince Albert of Monaco, performing at the Diana Awards Charity event in Downing St, a concert to celebrate Chinese New Year with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra in Bangkok, Thailand and singing the Russian and English National Anthems at Wembley Stadium for the England/Russia 2008 qualifier in front of 86,000 people.

Seija also sings on a regular basis at Covent Garden Market. It’s a performance space she holds very dear to her heart. The magic of street performance and introducing opera to the many people who have never before had the opportunity to enjoy the genre is hugely fulfilling. It is through this performance platform, more than any other, she has been able to realise her childhood dream of affecting the emotions of others.
